Grit Guard Washboard - Black

Item Description:

The Grit Guard Washboard works in conjunction with the Grit Guard Insert in your wash bucket to separate the grit from the mitt! Like it's sister product, the Grit Guard Insert, the Grit Guard Washboard has NO flat surfaces for dirt or grit to be collected. Contaminants are extracted from cleaning tools while rubbing them on the downward stoke against the Washboard.

Particles such as dirt, grit and grime from your wash mitt are the root cause of scratches and swirls in your vehicles finish. By using the Grit Guard Washboard together with the Grit Guard Insert you are insuring a clean, scratch-free wash mitt every time you go back to the bucket for water.

All of the potentially harmful dirt settles in the bottom of the bucket, keeping it away from your mitt and away from your paint. This simple and cost effective method protects your precious painted surfaces from being scratched and saves your paint from swirl marks and scratches.

Some pictures show the Grit Guard Insert (in red), which is not included, but required for fitment of the Grit Guard Washboard. Grit Guard Insert & Washboard Combo available for purchase.

Fits most 3.5 gallon, 4 gallon, 5 gallon and 6 gallon buckets.

Much easier than regular grit guard
The washboard is much nicer to use. You don't have to reach to the bottom on the bucket to dislodge dirt from the wash media. I would give it 5 stars if there were a little better method of attaching it to the regular grit guard, or if it were a one piece product.
ProsYou don't have to reach down to the bottom of the bucket anymore. Keeps the wash media ever further from dirt in the bottom of the bucket
ConsA little better way to attach the washboard to the grit guard would be nice.

better than just the bottom guard
Made it so much easier to clean the wash mitt after rubing wash mitt against this, there wasn't hardly any dirt left in it

Insurance policy?
I bought this thinking it might be an "insurance policy" against instilling swirls by removing any dirt in my wash mit. Saying this, I really never saw any dirt in my wash mit to begin with. I have the regular grit guards in both my wash and rinse buckets and think everyone should have these, but the Washboard, maybe, maybe not. It does make it easier to scrub off your mitt, but I'm not convinced it is 100 percent necessary. That's why I gave it 3 stars. I'm not sure it is worth $13. Maybe $5 or not at all.
ProsEasier to wash off your mitt.
ConsCosts too much for what it is.

You Get What You Expect
The washboard for the most part works exactly as advertised assuming you have a bucket that holds the lower grit guard firmly. If the GG is loose the problem is multiplied when the washboard is added it spins in the bucket. I have one of each types of buckets so I put the combo in the bucket that held it tightly. Works great, knocks loose particles out of your wash media quite well.
ProsPerhaps nothing more than a sense of confidence. I see more dirt in the bucket when finished so my sense of confidence is improved in knowing that i'm not dragging grit across my finish. Reasonable price
ConsOther than fitting tight in the bucket as already mentioned I can find no cons.

Wonderful Washboard
Funny how the simplest of things can make your life that much more enjoyable. I wiped downward and across the bottom each time I rinsed my wash media, which seemed to stay cleaner then before the GGWashboard. Very pleased.
ProsWorks well, good price, connects together with Grit Guard bottom to make one solid tool.

Why did it take so long to invent this?
This item is really well built and sturdy. It made cleaning the mit much more natural. Now I know why ladies used this in the old days to wash clothes. The movement of your hand and wrist just work better now. The family that makes these also gave out(sponsored) buckets at detail fest so I purchased two just to support their effort and am very glad I did. Worth every penny!
ProsMade in the USA and the owners are really nice people.
Consnone.
