I tried a generic 5 in back plate but did not work as well as the 6 in that came with the G9.I wanted to use the 5 in bac plate so Autopia had a sale and i bought it and it works great and is much cooler and better longevity for the pads.

Used this in conjunction with the lake country 5.5-in CSS pads. Worked great, the hook and loop was very secure and kept the pads on great.
Fastens the pads very well. Well-built, feels very sturdy. None

Perfect for the G9

The standard 6" is more than adequate, but what that say seem to be true...the smaller diameter plate (5") in this case is prefect for a DA like the G9. You get a lot more control of the machine and when you are beginning it helps a lot (even if its hard to mess up with a DA).

I have no idea if the vent holes truly do make a difference but I like to think they do. I can a one step on a sedan with this plate and maybe 2-3 pads easy.
Vented Plate Easy Install/Removal Quality Build Works great on GG DAs (I would imagine it would work on others just fine) Might be a smidge too expensive, but its essentially a one time purchase so its really not that bad.

As advertised. A snap to use. Pads attach really securely to backing plate. Holes in plate work well to cool pad during operation.

Quality at a steal

As soon as you pick it up you can feel this plate is hefty. It still has the nice flex for contours of a panel. Which will help in lessening downward pressure applied when polishing. Not a whole lot but much more then normal yellow BP's The cross pad air channels are genius. The best feature above them all is the center of the pad on the face is cut out all the way down to the base of the spindle. If you check your normal yellow BP's you can see the velcro in the center starting to fade from the dark black. This is your plate starting to go. This allows for greater heat dispersion from where pads run the hottest and the place where hot pads fail first.
This runs about $8 to $10 cheaper then the slim pickings out there for vented DA backing plates. Yeah you want to keep those MF pads running cooler, prevent dry buff then delaminate or blow up a expensive pad get this.
Build quality, Great design, weight, cheaper and more available then other options.
