Item Description:

Ultra safe paint decontamination in the palm of your hand!

Easy-to-hold sponge for quick and easy use

Lasts up to 4 times longer than detailing clay

Washable and reusable

The Nanoskin Autoscrub Speedy Prep Fine Grade Sponge makes paint decontamination easy and effortless. This easy-to-hold sponge fits in the palm of your hand for maximum comfort. It removes bonded contaminants with little effort. One side of the Speedy Prep features an easy-to-hold soft foam, while the backside has been infused with the latest advanced polymer rubber technology. This sponge replicates the paint cleaning action of a fine-grade clay bar to remove bonded surface contamination from your paint safely. Not only does the Nanoskin Autoscrub Speedy Prep Fine Grade Sponge work faster then a traditional clay bar, it is washable and reusable as well.

Shortly after leaving the factory, your vehicle is bombarded with airborne pollutants and contaminants that ruin the smooth feel of paint, limit its shine, and prevent waxes and paint sealants from bonding properly. In the old days, body shops and detailers would use aggressive compounds and a wool pad to clean the paint. Next, natural and synthetic clay bars where developed to clean contamination and over-spray. Detailing clay is still the tool of choice, and for good reason. You can clean your paint without damaging it, unlike the compounds of yesterday.

The Nanoskin Autoscrub Speedy Prep Fine Grade Sponge is the next generation in paint cleaning. It works much like detailing clay, but with several advantages. The sponge is small and ergonomic, making it comfortable to grip. The rubber polymer side acts in the same manner as detailing clay, safely removing contamination, pollutants, and over-spray. The Nanoskin Autoscrub Speedy Prep Fine Grade Sponge lasts considerably longer than traditional detailing clay and rinses clean in water. Drop it on the ground? No problem, rinse it off and keep working!

Use only on clean and cool surfaces. Mist diluted Nanoskin Glide (or your favorite clay lubricant) on the section and lightly rub until the surface is smooth. Wipe away residue with a soft cloth.

Note: Sufficient lubrication is crucial to the AUTOSCRUB application. This is the Fine Grade Autoscrub Sponge, designed to remove light to moderate contamination quickly. It is safe for fine and delicate paints. A Medium Grade Autoscrub Sponge is available and recommended when working on heavily contaminated finishes.

Much better than clay!
August 8, 2014
This speedy sponge is so much better than clay! Just have the car wet with soap (carwash) and use it just like clay, only no folding or flattening like you do with clay, so it is much quicker. If you drop it, just rinse it off. If you drop clay you need to throw it away. Great product!
ProsNo folding or flattening If you drop it just wash it off Quick and easy

I had my doubts that this would behave just like a clay bar. Boy was I wrong. Works just as well as any clay bar I've used without the folding and turning. The only time I had to switch to a regular clay bar was when I needed a more aggressive grade.
As others have said, if you drop it just rinse it off and you are good to go.

Easy Grip - No Folding
September 30, 2016
I dread the time it takes to claybar my car. This Prep Sponge turns the dreadful job into a no-hassle step. I use a Dawn soap and water solution with a Microfiber sponge on my left hand and the Nanoskin Prep Sponge in my right. As I strip clean the car with Dawn/water in my left hand, I follow in the suds with my right hand - cuts the initial cleaning time in half and get a smooth finish to follow up with a compound or polish. I do small 2'x2' sections dipping both sponges in the Dawn suds bucket.
ProsEasy grip, easy to use. Soooooo much easier than a clay bar.
ConsDoes get stuck on certain materials - just stay on the paint. Try to remove any caked on bugs before hand.

Works well

I purchased this to replace claying. It does work fine for the most part on vehicles that are not heavily contaminated. I have gone over the area with clay after using the nanoskin sponge and the clay picked up more contaminants.

These are great for production detailing but I still prefer clay on my personal vehicles.

It worked, but seemed small, mostly all sponge. Reminded me of a clay bar.

Highly Reccomend

I have bought 2 of these and I use them almost exclusively over traditional clay. The best part if that if you drop it your don't have to throw it away! I have used multiple lubricants (ONR, Poorboy S&W, Mothers, and soap) and they all have worked well for me. I was concerned with durability but have not had any problems in the past year. A word of caution though, if you don't use enough lube it may "stick" and I have found a spray of a product like tarminator or tar-x and MF will wipe it away.

Don't waste money on clay again

This sponge is so much better than clay. It cuts just as deep with half the effort. As long as you keep the surface lubricated, it glides extremely easy. Worth the money!

This sponge is easier to use than clay and seems to have the same great ability to pick up all substances.
ProsEase of use. Good pickup.
ConsStorage. Has a tendency to stick to anything when being stored.

It made my paint go from feeling and sounding and sandpaper to being smooth as glass. I found that left over soap from a wash bucket was sufficient. Be careful when using a product like tarminator in addition to it. I did not fully rinse the tarminator off in a spot and the sponge left a bit of black reside behind, but it was easily removed. Works great.
ProsEasy Time saving Cheap

Never Going Back To Clay
June 18, 2015
I was skeptical before purchase, even after reading the great reviews. But I figured for $13 it was worth a shot. All I can say is I am never going back to clay.

Cleans as well if not better than clay and is SOOO much easier to use. No constant folding, no worries of dropping and no hand fatigue. A car that would take me 2 hours with conventional clay took me under 45 minutes with this and the paint came out smooth as glass.

As others have said, it is difficult to see how dirty the surface of this is, so I just rinsed after every panel to be certain I was keeping it clean.

Really a fantastic product that far exceeded my expectations.
Pros* Extremely comfortable * Cuts work time in half * Re-usable * Cheaper and faster than clay
Cons* Absolutely none Buy it. Buy it now!

Great to decon a Mid/large car in 20 minutes or so!
Just don't forget to store it downside up without anything touching the black plastic.
Also don't forget to break it in on the glass prior to use.
ProsCuts the time needed to clay. Very easy to use and reuse.
ConsIf you're not careful you can damage the black plastic part as it grabs onto plastics etc. and amy delaminate.

Nanoskin sponge
September 19, 2014
Only weird thing I liked about clay bars was that you could see the tiny specks of dirt that even a fine washing of car would not clean. With this and some fine lubricant one cannot really tell how much dirt is cleaned onto sponge. Too bad it was not white Nanoskin material. One could look at shiny car and wonder how much dirt they really cleaned off car with this sponge. Just to be safe one should always rinse off in bucket of water then squeeze out water and lubricant.
ProsEasy to use and one cannot drop like a clay bar that is heavy compared to this. No scratches/swirls so far like a clay bar.
ConsBlack rubber material may have to be looked at by strong magnifier just to see if it is working. My car front window does look better so I know the lubricant is working buy even a microfiber with lubricant could make that work too!

foam is soft enough so you can get it into tight areas like behind door handles too

I bought the two pack of these and use them on most of my details for light to moderate contaminants. The price is great for how many uses you get out of them. better than standard clay in my opinion.
