Item Description:

Dramatically improves visibility in rain and forms a chemical bond with automotive glass — unlike other products that simply coat.

New single applicator pack
Used by professionals
Lasts up to six months

When AQUAPEL ® Glass Treatment is applied to the exterior of vehicle glass, it leaves the surface water resistant. Rain beads up and rolls off, dramatically improving visibility—day and night.

One application lasts up to six months—six times longer than other products.

How it Works

Using technology innovated for the aviation industry, Aquapel Glass Treatment forms a chemical bond with the glass which increases water repellency, causing water to bead and easily shed off the glass. These fluorinated compounds apply in just minutes to a clean, dry windshield or any exterior glass surface, and lasts up to 6 times longer than silicone-based products.

Additionally, Aquapel Glass Treatment remains highly effective after months of normal use, including heavy rain and snow, car washing, glass cleaning and salt spray.

How to use Aquapel

Aquapel® Glass Treatment was developed by PPG Industries, leaders in glass technology. When applied to a vehicle windshield, this innovative product improves vision in the rain, day and night. Aquapel forms a chemical bond with glass, unlike other products that simply coat glass. As a result, Aquapel can last up to 6 times longer than other products. One application can last for months!

Step 1: Clean Thoroughly clean and dry the glass.

Step 2: Apply Hold the applicator between the thumb and fingers with the pad down and level over the windshield. Squeeze the wings together until a popping sound is heard and liquid is released onto the pad. Use immediately.

Wipe the soft pad of the applicator over the glass up and down then side to side to ensure the glass is well covered. Avoid painted surfaces. Remove liquid from non-glass surfaces with dry paper towel.

Step 3: Dry Wipe the glass with a clean dry paper towel immediately after Aquapel has been applied to the entire windshield. Dispose of applicator and paper towel. Failure to wipe immediately may cause hazing that requires additional buffing with a clean dry paper towel.

Note: One single-use applicator will treat one windshield or two side windows.

  • Do not let Aquapel air dry onto windshield.
  • When applying to large surface areas treat and dry one half at a time.
  • Application conditions: Do not use in temperatures colder than 50º F or hotter than 90º F or in excessively humid conditions.
  • Once applied, Aquapel® Glass Treatment can be reapplied as needed.
  • Cleaning glass with ordinary glass cleaners will not affect product durability.

Not as Good
This product does not bead water like it did before. When I applied this product years ago, I rarely used my wipers when it rained. This product does repel water but not as much. I still recommend it but it is disappointing compared to my previous experiences.
ProsEasy to apply. Repels water when it rains and makes it easier to scrape off ice in winter.
ConsLeaves a hazy film if not wiped off immediately after application. Not as good as it was years ago,

Aquapel Review
I have purchased this item through a Firestone dealer several years ago and this item does not appear to be as long lasting. I have been told that the item was "Military Grade" that I bought from another source. That explains why I have to repeat the treatment every 6 weeks as opposed to every 6 months.

Just being honest, folks. You asked

Nothing beats Aquapel. Absolutely nothing. I have seen it still beading after 8 months on a car that was not cleaned at all during that time. I have seen it last through snow, ice, and even a good citrus wax-stripping wash. Is very easy to apply, however it is a bear to remove if you let it dry - make sure you remove it ASAP! Trust me on this. Well worth every penny you will pay for it!
ProsDurability Water repellence Makes windows a breeze to rinse when washing Price (good considering how durable the product is)
ConsCan be tricky to use Price (a bit pricey per application)

Best glass protection, by far!
Aquapel should be the only thing you should ever applie to your windows. You will not see better water bedding at any speed your drive than with Aquapel. I not only use it on my windshield and all other windows, but use it on my headlights and side mirrors. I can't recommend this product enough - with one applicator I can do all the windows on a medsized car. Don't forget the application last up to 6months. I normally get 3-4, but at $10 thats a steal!!
ProsLongevity - up to 6 months! Ease of application Ease of re-application Cost is perfect.
ConsNothing. Truly a great product.

Truly lasts, much better than rain-x
I apply aquapel to my windshields 2-3 times a year. It truly allows you to run your wipers at lower setting and clears much more rain off your windshield. Years ago I made a detailed comparison of the two here:
