Some say a dual-action car polisher can't be used to remove paint scratches.  With the Sonus SFX Scratch Removal Kit and your Porter Cable or UDM by Porter Cable it can!

The combination of Sonus SFX-1 Restore Polish and the 4" Sonus SFX-1 Spot Pad are amazing.  In a matter of moments you can use these two products to remove or vastly improve the appearance of most clearcoat scratches and scuffs.  Best of all, the 4" SFX pad isolates polishing to the repair area.

The secret to this kit is our SFX foam and the 4" pad size.  The smaller pad diameter allows the Ultimate Detailing Machine or Porter Cable 7424 to apply more energy to a smaller, concentrated area.  The additional energy gets the maximum amount of work out of our SFX polish to remove the scratch.

This illustration shows a cross section of a painted surface and identifies the various layers. Scratches in the clear coat layer that do not reach the bottom of the clear coat or into the color coat are easily repaired by polishing away a small mount of the surrounding clear coat.

In this second illustration, a deep scratch is shown in the clear coat.  Polishing will not fix this scratch, but it will lessen the appearance. WARNING: Do not over polish.  If you can catch your fingernail on a scratch, it is too deep to remove completely.  Deep scratches can be professionally repaired by filling with touchup paint, sanding and re-polishing.  See Paint Polishing Clinic for more information.
