The SFX foam polishing pad system was specifically designed for use with the
Ultimate Detailing Machine by Porter Cable and the Porter Cable 7424 dual-action car polishers.
The foam dimension, shape, density and backing were all factored in to the system and take full advantage of the polisher's size and power. No other foam pads harness the full potential of the Ultimate Detailing Machine by Porter Cable, Porter Cable 7424 or the Porter Cable 7424XP like Sonus SFX Four Step Foam Pad System!
This kit contains all four of the 6 Sonus SFX Velcro backed foam polishing pads, plus two microfiber buffing bonnets for fast, easy removal of polish and wax films.
Sonus SFX Polishing Four Step System:
STEP 1- Sonus SFX-1 Remove serious defects
 The yellow Sonus SFX-1 Restore Defect Removal Pad is the first step in serious defect removal such as random isolated scratches, heavy swirl, severe oxidation, stubborn water etching and other difficult to remove paint defects.
Use the Sonus SFX-1 Restore Defect Removal Pad for safe and efficient removal of more serious defects with the Sonus SFX-1 Restore polish or your favorite fine cut restoration polish.
STEP 2- Sonus SFX-2 Remove swirl and minor defects
 The white Sonus SFX-2 Enhance Swirl Removal Pad is the second step for minor defect removal of swirl, fine isolated scratches, water spots, mild water etching, light oxidation and other less severe paint finish defects.
Use the Sonus SFX-2 Enhance Swirl Removal pad for safe and competent removal of medium to light common defects with the Sonus SFX-2 Enhance Swirl Remover Polish or your choice of a fine cut swirl removal polish.
STEP 3- Sonus SFX-3 Pre wax cleaning and gloss enhancement
 The orange Sonus SFX-3 Final Finish Gloss Enhancer Pad is your third step in paint perfection and is used to clean your paint and enhance gloss so you can achieve that desired deep, wet looking shine.
Use the Sonus SFX-3 Final Finish Gloss Enhancer Pad for your pre-wax cleaning and final gloss enhancement as well as to prep your surface for proper bonding of car wax, paint sealant or protectant with the Sonus SFX-4 Paint sealant or your preferred paint cleaner or fine polish.
STEP 4- Sonus SFX-4 Protect your paint finish from harsh environmental elements
 The charcoal Sonus SFX-4 Final Gloss Seal and Protect Pad is the final step to a flawless finish and is used to safely apply your car wax, paint sealant or protectant.
Use the Sonus SFX-4 Final Gloss Seal and Protect pad for thin, even application of the Sonus SFX-4 Paint Sealant or your desired car wax, paint sealant or protectant.

- STEP 2- Sonus SFX-2 4.5 to 5

Proper polishing of a paint finish requires several grades (abrasive levels) of polish. You start with a cutting polish (fine compound) to remove heavy oxidation, scratches, heavy swirl marks and stains. When these blemishes are gone or diminished to the point where they are no longer noticeable, you switch to a polish with moderate abrasiveness to finesse remaining trouble areas (without removing excessive paint thickness) and restore overall gloss. To add exceptional gloss, and maintain the high gloss finish, you use an ultra-fine polish with very low abrasives. Just as each of these polishing steps requires a different level of polish, each step demands a different density foam buffing pad.Sonus SFX 6 polishing pads are precision made for use with dual-action polishers or a rotary buffer. Sonus SFX pads feature engineered prepolymer foams that are hydrophilic, meaning they quickly absorb polish and swell. The prepolymer foam offers superior durability and generates just the right amount of work (heat) to offer great polishing action, even with a dual-action machine.
The hydrophilic nature of the SFX pads improves polish hang time, which is the amount of buffing you can perform before your polish dries out, forcing you to
stop and apply more polish. The benefit is an even and complete break down of the polishing oxides for a perfectly clear final finish.
Unlike most foam pads, which have their Velcro backing applied after the foam disk is cut, the Velcro backing is applied to the SFX foam in its sheet form during the foam manufacturing process. The lamination process creates a complete bond between the Velcro and foam that will not delaminate under the extreme stress of a high performance dual-action polisher.
Sonus SFX pads are very dense. They have a small, uniform cell structure that efficiently transmits energy to the polish, allowing it create a finer paint finish. For a glowing final finish, the SFX-3 Final Finish pad is super soft for polishing and waxing to a jewel-like finish. |
