Ordering RaceDeck flooring is easy. First you need to decide if you will be covering the entire floor,o r making a parking mat. When covering the entire floor, you’ll need to know the square footage of the space. Once you’ve gathered the measurements, sketch a floor plan on graph paper. Set up you sketch so that each square of the graph paper represents one square foot. This is helpful since most RaceDeck tiles are 12” x 12” square with the exception of RaceDeck XL tiles which are 18” x 18”.
Use the measurements of the space to determine how many tiles you will need. Remember, if you want to add edging and corners, those pieces will add two inches to the outside edge of the finished floor. If you aren’t using edge pieces, you can run the tiles up to the walls.
If you opt to make a parking mat, decide how large you want the mat to be and then calculate the number of tiles necessary to create the mat. Most people that make parking mats choose to add edging to create a more finished and professional look.
Edge pieces are 12” x 2” and corner pieces are 14” x 2”. On a square parking mat, two sides will require female edges and corners and two sides will require male edges and corners. Be sure to take this into consideration when preparing your sketch and subsequent shopping list. If you include this information in your sketch, you’ll find it helpful during installation as well.
Don’t forget, RaceDeck flooring is available in many colors tile patterns providing an opportunity for you to create a completely customized floor. Your sketch will help you plan out the details, and determine the correct number of tiles to bring the design to life!
