3M Trizact 5000 Grit Foam Discs are foam-backed abrasive discs that are ideal for the removal of previous fine grade sanding marks such as those caused P3000 grade sand paper. The all new, ultra-fine abrasive surface is also ideal for the precise removal of paint imperfections such as deep swirl marks, moderate scratches, or when working on thin paint finishes. 3M Trizact 5000 Grit Foam Discs have a foam backing that is able to conform against the curves of your vehicle. This flexibility enables the discs to level scratches evenly and results in an extremely level surface.
3M Trizact 5000 Grit Foam Discs are rated at a P5000 grade by 3M. The unique sanding surface does not feel like the traditional gritty surfaces of normal sanding papers. Instead the Trizact surface removes as much material as a 5000 grit paper while delivering an even finer finish. Use the 3M Trizact 5000 Grit Foam Discs when final sanding fresh paint or for extra refinement of fine grade scratches.
Less cutting required. Cutting is the aggressive compounding step required to fully remove sanding marks from the paint and restore gloss. Aggressive cutting will leave deep buffer swirl marks that require at least two additional steps of polishing. With the 3M Trizact 5000 Grit Foam Discs you will get a finish that, in most cases, requires only a foam pad and moderate grade polish to restore shine. This reduces work time, polishing steps, and leaves a more level surface.
3M recommends using the 3M Trizact 5000 Grit Foam Discs with a dual action sander or polisher that has at least a 3/16” stroke for best results. For extra conformability you can use a foam interface pad in-between the machine’s backing plate and the sanding disc. Use the 3M Trizact 5000 Grit Foam Discs damp, that is apply a small amount of water to section to be sanding, and work slowly. Inspect finish often for desired result.
